Pune Airport’s New Terminal Nears Completion: Inauguration Expected in 2-3 Weeks, Says Scindia

In a recent visit to Pune Airport, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia dispelled claims of delays in the inauguration of the new terminal building, stating that it is set to open its doors in two or three weeks. The terminal, constructed at a cost of Rs 423 crore by the Airports Authority of India, is in its final phase of completion.

During an inspection of the new terminal, Scindia emphasized that some finishing touches are required, and the remaining work is expected to conclude promptly. Addressing claims of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s absence causing delays, Scindia denied any knowledge of such assertions.

The Union Minister noted that his responsibility lies in completing the project, which has now been accomplished. Discussions regarding the inauguration plans will be led by the chief minister and deputy chief ministers, with the event anticipated within the next two to three weeks.

As per the Airports Authority of India (AAI), safety testing will follow the inauguration, with an estimated duration of up to ninety days before the terminal becomes fully operational. Once operational, the new terminal will significantly augment passenger capacity, accommodating up to 12 million passengers annually, compared to the current facility’s capacity of 7.2 million passengers.
