Maha Online and DTE CAP Servers Experience Slowdown, Causing Concern among Students and Parents

Pune, 24th June 2023: The Maha Online portal, which facilitates the issuance of certificates such as domicile, caste, and creamy layer required for admission to diploma in engineering, has been experiencing significant slowdowns over the past three to four days. This has caused considerable worry among thousands of students and their parents who are relying on the portal for their admission process.

Adding to the frustration, the server of the Director of Technical Education (DTE) centralised admission process (CAP) has also been affected by the slowdown.

Responding to numerous requests, Chandrakant Patil, the Minister of Higher and Technical Education, has extended the admission deadline to June 30, providing some relief to the affected students.

Sanket Patil, a concerned parent, expressed, “June 21 was the last date for admission to engineering diploma courses. However, students and parents faced significant mental distress due to the slowdown of the portal. We took up the matter with Minister Patil, who promptly arranged a conference call with the Secretary of the Higher and Technical Education Department. As a result, the diploma admission deadline has been extended until June 30.”

Monali Ovhal, another parent, shared her concerns, stating, “The Class X and XII results were recently declared, and students now require caste certificates, non-criminal records, and other documents for further education. Unfortunately, the Maha Online portal started experiencing issues on June 17 and completely stopped functioning on June 22.”

Gautam Sonawane, the principal of a reputable polytechnic institution, explained that the server slowdown was primarily due to the high volume of users attempting to log in and upload heavy files. He said, “The portal frequently becomes unresponsive for hours. We have received numerous complaints from parents about this problem. We have informed the DTE officials, who have assured us that their technical team is working to address the issue. With thousands of students affected, we hope that the portal will function smoothly until June 30.”

Maruti Jadhav, the Assistant Director of the Pune region of DTE, acknowledged the slowdown of the main server of Maha Online. However, he clarified that the DTE admission portal is still operational. Jadhav added, “While the original deadline for diploma admissions was June 21, due to non-compliance by a significant number of students within the given timeframe, the state government has extended the deadline to June 30.”

The slowdown of Maha Online and DTE CAP servers has undoubtedly caused inconvenience and anxiety among students and parents. The extension of the admission deadline offers some respite and provides an opportunity for the technical teams to rectify the server issues. Students and parents remain hopeful that the portal will be fully functional and efficient to facilitate a smooth admission process for all concerned parties.
