PCMC Gives Deadline for Hoarding Licence Renewal

Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has issued a stern ultimatum to billboard owners in the city: renew your licences promptly or face penalties. As part of its efforts to regulate the cityscape and enforce licensing regulations, PCMC is cracking down on those who have not renewed their hoarding licences.

Here are the key points:

  • Licensing Situation: Currently, out of the 1,136 advertisement boards in Pimpri-Chinchwad, only 910 holders have obtained the necessary licences from the municipal authority.
  • Renewal Mandate: Under the Sky Signs and Licensing Department, PCMC mandates the annual renewal of billboard licences to maintain regulatory compliance and city aesthetics.
  • Penalties for Non-Compliance: Sandeep Khot, Deputy Commissioner of the Sky Signs and Licensing Department, warns that failure to renew licences will result in penal action. A penalty of 10% will be imposed if the licence fee remains unpaid for three months after the April 1 deadline. This penalty escalates to 25% if fees remain unpaid for six months, with the possibility of licence cancellation for persistent non-renewal.

  • Appeal for Cooperation: PCMC urges billboard holders to promptly settle their fees to avoid fines and potential licence cancellation. Vijay Kumar Kharote, the additional commissioner of PCMC’s Sky Sign Department, emphasizes that offenders will be penalized without exception.
  • Importance of Compliance: The licensing process ensures safety standards and prevents visual clutter, contributing to civic order and compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Stakeholder Responsibility: By renewing licences, billboard owners contribute to urban planning and governance. The crackdown on unlicensed billboards underscores the importance of regulatory compliance in maintaining the city’s aesthetics and functionality.
  • Call to Action: Billboard owners are urged to prioritize licence renewal to ensure compliance and avoid penalties, fostering a vibrant and orderly cityscape reflective of responsible civic stewardship.

PCMC’s enforcement of licensing regulations reflects its commitment to efficient governance and urban planning, encouraging collaborative efforts between the municipal authority and stakeholders for sustainable development and harmonious coexistence in the city.
