Narrow Escape: Driver Emerges Unscathed as Vehicle Ignites on Rajmata Jijau Flyover

In a harrowing incident on Sunday, October 15th, a pick-up van turned into a fiery inferno on the Rajmata Jijau Flyover in Bhosari around 3 pm. Quick action by the fire brigade prevented a potentially catastrophic situation.

Fire on the Flyover

The pick-up Bolero with license plate MH 04 JK 9814 became a victim of flames, suspected to have been sparked by engine overheating. The incident unfolded near Phuge Prima on the Rajmata Jijau Flyover.

Rapid Response

As soon as authorities were alerted, fire brigade units from Bhosari, Sant Tukaram Nagar, and Moshi rushed to the scene. Deputy Fire Officer Dilip Gaikwad and his team, including Leading Firemen Vitthal Ghuse, Vitthal Sapkal, Nikhil Gogawle, Shravan Chimte, Mangesh Devgadkar, and others, swiftly and effectively tackled the blaze, preventing further damage and potential harm.

Sub-Inspector Kalyan Ghadge of the Bhosari Police Station, along with assistant constable Sanjay Chavan and police personnel Sachin Patil and Vikram Kavthe, arrived promptly to assess the situation. Traffic management measures were also put in place to ease congestion on the flyover, ensuring the safety of both commuters and emergency responders.

The driver, identified as Pintu Surendra, shared his account of the incident, detailing how it unfolded while he was on the road from Chimbli to Pune.
