Water Conservation Initiative: ₹5000 Penalty for Home Car Washing in Gurugram

In a bid to address the growing water crisis exacerbated by home car washing, the Gurugram administration has introduced stringent measures. A new directive has been issued to levy fines on individuals washing cars at home during specified hours to curb water wastage.

Preventing Water Wastage

The administration has urged citizens to refrain from washing cars with supplied water between 5 AM to 9 AM, a period identified as critical for water conservation. This measure aims to mitigate the strain on water resources caused by excessive car washing practices.

Strict Enforcement

Warning notices have been issued, emphasizing adherence to the directive. Those found violating the regulations will face severe consequences, including disconnection of water supply to their households. The Gurugram Nagar Nigam has highlighted the escalating water wastage resulting from home car washing activities, necessitating decisive action to safeguard water resources.

Penalties in Place

To deter offenders, the administration has imposed a hefty fine of ₹5000 on individuals caught washing cars during supply hours. Additionally, disconnected water connections can only be reinstated upon payment of an additional ₹1000. These penalties underscore the seriousness of the issue and emphasize the importance of responsible water usage.

Alternative Solutions

While the directive aims to curb water wastage, alternative methods for car cleaning without significant water consumption are encouraged. Utilizing dry foam cleaners and dry cloths can effectively clean vehicles with minimal water usage. Additionally, employing spray bottles for targeted cleaning reduces water consumption while maintaining cleanliness.
