Noida-Greater Noida Metro Service Restructured for Inclusive Commuting

In a notable shift affecting daily commuters, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has taken the decision to terminate the Fast Metro service connecting Noida and Greater Noida during peak hours. This service, designed to bypass specific stations for time efficiency, will now make stops at all stations along the route, aligning with public demand and aiming to enhance accessibility.

Key Highlights:

End of Fast Metro Service: NMRC has ceased the Fast Metro service that operated during peak hours between Noida and Greater Noida. Previously, this service skipped four stations – Sector 144, 145, 146, and 147 – saving approximately 15-20 minutes for commuters.

All Stations Service Resumption: With the discontinuation of the Fast Metro, trains will now make stops at all stations, ensuring commuters at sectors 144, 145, 146, and 147 have access to metro services during busy hours. This change aims to accommodate local demands and make the metro more accessible to a broader user base.

Public Demand Driven Decision: The decision to halt the fast service was driven by passenger feedback and requirements. NMRC’s Managing Director, Dr. Lokesh M, emphasized that the introduction of the Fast Metro service around four years ago was also in response to public demand, showcasing NMRC’s commitment to adapting services based on commuter needs.

Trial Phase: Starting Tuesday, NMRC will initiate a trial period to assess the impact of this new arrangement. If the trial proves successful and meets commuters’ approval, the new system of halting at every station will be permanently implemented, ensuring the metro service is more inclusive and beneficial to all passengers.

Potential Impact on Commute Time: While the Fast Metro service provided time efficiency for direct travel between Noida and Greater Noida, its suspension might lead to increased travel times for some commuters. However, this move is expected to benefit a larger section of the commuting public, particularly those relying on intermediate stations for daily travel.
