Delhi’s Parking Revolution: FasTag to Automate Payments at 13 Locations Starting March 1

In a groundbreaking move towards modernizing parking facilities in Delhi, the Delhi Municipal Corporation has declared that starting from March 1, digital payment methods will be mandatory for all surface and multilevel parking areas under its jurisdiction. This initiative, initially implemented in 21 surface parking zones, is set to revolutionize the city’s parking infrastructure.

Implementing FasTag for Parking Fees

The innovative system incorporates FasTag, enabling drivers to seamlessly pay parking fees directly from their FasTag accounts. This digital payment method is set to streamline the parking fee collection process, making it more convenient for both commuters and parking facility operators.

Future Expansion and Locations

While commencing with 21 surface parking areas, the Delhi Municipal Corporation has ambitious plans to extend this system to cover all parking facilities within its purview, totaling over 400. This includes approximately 15 multilevel parking structures and the remaining surface parking zones. Notable locations set to adopt the FasTag-based system include East of Kailash, Dwarka Sector (Surface parking in Sectors 4, 12, 13, and at Metro stations), Subhash Nagar (Multilevel parking), Rajendra Place, Geeta Colony, Janakpuri District Center, Sultanpuri, Dilshad Garden, and Old Delhi Railway Station.

Advantages of FasTag for Parking Fees

The introduction of FasTag for parking fees comes with several advantages, including automatic deductions from linked accounts. This not only saves time for drivers but also contributes to reducing traffic congestion issues at parking exits.

Benefits of the New System

Efficiency and User-Friendliness: The Fastag-based system is expected to enhance the efficiency and user-friendliness of the parking fee collection process.

Time-Saving: Automated fee deduction will save time for drivers and reduce traffic congestion at parking exits.

Future Plans: The Delhi Municipal Corporation aims to implement this system across all its parking facilities within a year, aligning with the broader vision of modernizing the entire parking infrastructure in the city.

This shift towards the digitalization of parking fee collection underscores the commitment of the Delhi Municipal Corporation to creating a more advanced and convenient urban infrastructure. The move is anticipated to support the broader goals of digital India and smart city projects.
