Delhi-NCR Braces for Traffic Turmoil: Border Sealed and Roads Closed Amidst Farmers’ March and Major Events

Delhi and NCR residents are grappling with extensive traffic disruptions as the Delhi Police implement heightened security measures at all borders in anticipation of the farmers’ march to Delhi. The enforcement of barricades and road closures, combined with ongoing and upcoming events, has led to severe traffic jams in various parts of the city.

Extensive Traffic Jams Expected:

The sudden imposition of barricades, especially during peak hours, has resulted in significant traffic congestion. The lack of prior information to the public has exacerbated the situation, leading to extensive traffic jams in numerous areas.

Areas Affected by Traffic Jams:

Traffic police officials have identified areas around Singhu Border, Tikri Border, Ghazipur Border, Chilla Border, DND, Kalindi Kunj, Rajokri, and Apsara as heavily affected by stringent barricading near the borders of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Upcoming Events Impacting Traffic:

The Tata Women’s Premier League 2024 matches scheduled at the Arun Jaitley Stadium from March 5-13 and March 15-17 are expected to impact traffic facilities in Delhi. In anticipation of large crowds, Delhi Traffic Police have imposed traffic restrictions around the stadium and nearby areas.

Major roads such as NH-24, Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Noida Link Road, DND, Kalindi Kunj Road, Mathura Road, MB Road, GT Karnal Road, Rohtak Road, and NH-48 are currently experiencing significant traffic jams.

Road Closures:

During the cricket matches, specific roads around the stadium will be closed from 4:30 PM to midnight. Commuters are advised to avoid routes from Daryaganj to Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Guru Nanak Chowk to Asaf Ali Road, and other nearby roads to prevent delays.

Additional Events:

An International Food and Hospitality Fair at Pragati Maidan from March 7-11 is expected to cause long traffic jams on Mathura Road, Bhairon Road, Ring Road, Shershah Road, and Purana Qila Road. Traffic police have issued advisories, urging daily commuters to seek alternative routes for a hassle-free journey.
