Affordable Living: Delhi DDA’s Metro-Accessible Flats at 11 Lakhs Witness Overwhelming Response

Delhi: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has experienced an extraordinary response to its recent housing scheme, “First Come, First Serve,” initiated on November 24. In a mere five days, the scheme attracted a staggering 7,739 registrations for its 27,000 flats, predominantly situated in Narela.

Revolutionizing Flat Sales

Under the directive of LG VK Saxena, key adjustments to eligibility criteria and relaxation in standards have led to a substantial surge in flat sales. An official overseeing residential properties highlighted that the DDA, burdened with unsold houses in the past, is now witnessing a positive transformation in sales, thanks to these progressive changes.

Buyer-Friendly Rules

Saxena’s strategic modifications to restrictive rules have removed hurdles for potential buyers. The rule disqualifying Delhi flat/plot owners from purchasing DDA flats has been eliminated. Prospective buyers are now empowered to visit sites and select their desired properties. Provisions like merging two adjacent flats into one have further incentivized buyers to participate.

Enhanced Facilities and Amenities

The marketing campaign for these flats accentuates features such as freehold property status, lifts, parks, playgrounds, and Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs). DDA’s marketing agency reveals that comprehensive development plans for Narela, including university campuses, courts, jail complexes, hospitals, and improved metro connectivity, have contributed to the heightened interest among buyers.

Success from Previous Phases

Prior to the current phase of the “First Come, First Serve” scheme, which concluded on November 23, DDA managed to attract nearly 20,000 prospective buyers. Impressively, 83% of these registrations have seamlessly converted into actual sales, reflecting the success of the revamped housing initiative.
