Macy’s, a prominent US department store chain with 722 stores as of January 2023, has unveiled plans to cut 2,350 jobs and close five stores, marking 3.5 percent of its total workforce. The decision to reduce jobs comes in the midst of a $5.8 billion offer by investor groups Arkhouse Management and Brigade Capital to take Macy’s private.
