Sony is conducting tests on cloud streaming for select PlayStation 5 (PS5) games, according to an announcement by the tech giant. This feature is being developed as an additional benefit for the PlayStation Plus Premium subscription.
Nick Maguire, the Vice President of Global Services, Global Sales, and Business Operations at Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated in a recent blog post that they are currently testing cloud streaming for supported PS5 games. This includes titles from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Game Trials, as well as supported digital PS5 titles that players own. Once launched, this feature will allow players to directly access cloud game streaming for supported PS5 titles on their PS5 console.
Maguire also mentioned that this cloud streaming feature is still in the early stages of development and testing. Further details about its availability and functionality will be revealed in due course.
In addition to this cloud streaming initiative, Sony recently unveiled a glimpse of a new handheld device designed for playing PS5 games through remote play over Wi-Fi. The company plans to release this device in the near future, providing gamers with more options for enjoying their favorite PS5 titles.
