RIL AGM 2023: Jio AirFiber Launch Date and Latest Telecom Updates

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) convened its Annual General Meeting (AGM) today, unveiling significant updates in the realm of digital services, particularly through its subsidiary Reliance Jio. Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, shared crucial insights into various developments, including Jio’s burgeoning 5G customer base, the impending launch of Jio AirFiber, and other notable achievements.

Jio’s Extensive 5G Coverage and Rapid Rollout

One of the focal points of the AGM was Reliance Jio’s commendable progress in establishing a robust 5G network infrastructure. Mukesh Ambani proudly announced that Jio’s 5G services are now accessible in an impressive 96% of census towns across India. While this doesn’t imply blanket coverage of every corner within these towns, Jio has ensured 5G availability in various parts of these areas.

Ambani emphasized, “In just nine months, Jio 5G is already present in over 96% of the census towns of our country. And we’re on track to cover the entire country by December of this year. This makes Jio 5G the fastest-ever 5G rollout of this scale anywhere in the world.”

Furthermore, Ambani highlighted the remarkable fact that over 85% of India’s operational 5G cells belong to Jio’s network. The company is rapidly deploying these cells, adding a new 5G cell to its network approximately every 10 seconds. By December, Jio anticipates having nearly one million operational 5G cells, a testament to its commitment to expansive and high-quality coverage.

Jio’s Growing 5G Customer Base and AirFiber Launch

With over 50 million 5G customers, Reliance Jio has firmly established its presence in the 5G landscape. Notably, Jio is providing complimentary 5G services to all these users. Ambani remarked on the rising trend of high Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) postpaid customers selecting Jio as their preferred network. This serves as a testament to the superior quality of service that Jio offers.

Jio’s successful 5G rollout is powered by the company’s proprietary 5G stack, developed entirely in-house. This demonstrates Jio’s technological prowess and commitment to innovation.

The AGM also brought long-awaited news about Jio AirFiber. While the service has intrigued many, specifics had remained undisclosed. In this AGM, Reliance finally unveiled the launch date for Jio AirFiber – September 19, 2023, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. With its forthcoming launch, Jio AirFiber aims to tap into a substantial market of approximately 200 million high-paying homes and premises.

Conclusion

Reliance Industries’ AGM unveiled a series of significant achievements and announcements, underscoring Jio’s commitment to advancing India’s digital landscape. With the extensive 5G rollout and the much-anticipated Jio AirFiber launch, the company is poised to further transform the way Indians experience connectivity and digital services.
