Pune: I will pursue demand for water from Mulshi dam with the Centre: Murlidhar Mohol

Pune: Maha Yuti-BJP candidate for the Pune Lok Sabha constituency, Murli Mohol, has promised citizens that he would follow up on the demand with the Centre to lift 5 TMC water from the Mulshi dam. Currently, it is impossible to build a new dam to quench the thirst of growing population of the city.

A campaign rally was organised for Mohol in the Vadgaon Sheri Assembly Segment. MLA Sunil Tingre, former MLAs Jagdish Mulik and Bapusaheb Pathare and Dr Siddharth Dhende were present.

Mohol said, “A proposal was sent, in this regard, to the State Government on the approval of the General Body of the PMC on September 22, 2021 when I was the mayor. The Mulshi dam belongs to the Tatas, a private company. If required, I will follow up the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government.”

He said, “We have kept the promise of implementing the equitable water supply project. Around 51 pc work out of 82 pc has been completed. As many as 20 water tanks, built under the plan, are being used. Out of the 1,200-km, 921-km water pipelines have been laid. 80 pc of the supply lines are complete. Over 50 pc water meters have been installed. I am confident that the project will plug leakages and will provide potable, adequate water to Puneites 24X7.”

Mohol said, “The Bhama-Askhed water supply project has been completed to supply water to areas such as Ahmednagar road, Yerwada, Lohegaon, Dhanori, Kalyani Nagar, Vadgaon Sheri, Kharadi, and Sangamwadi.
