Three PMC Officers Dismissed for Submitting Fake Documents During Recruitment: Maintaining Integrity in Public Service

Pune Municipal Corporation

Pune, 20th June 2023: Three junior engineers employed at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have been terminated from their positions after being accused of submitting fake experience certificates. The revelation of their fraudulent actions has caused a wave of concern among employees and officials within the organization.

Taking swift and decisive action, Additional Commissioner Ravindra Binawade ordered the immediate dismissal of the accused officers, signaling the PMC’s zero-tolerance policy towards such misconduct.

The recruitment process for employees in municipal corporations across the state had been on hold. However, following the lifting of the ban by the state government, the Pune Municipal Corporation initiated recruitment for the position of Junior Engineer. Unfortunately, complaints regarding the authenticity of the submitted certificates soon surfaced, casting doubt on the credibility of some newly appointed employees.

To address these allegations, an inquiry committee comprising three officials was promptly formed. The committee meticulously examined the documents of 50 recently appointed individuals who had secured positions as junior engineers. After a thorough investigation, the committee compiled a comprehensive report, which was subsequently submitted to Commissioner Vikram Kumar.

Upon reviewing the findings of the inquiry committee, Additional Commissioner Ravindra Binwade swiftly took action by ordering the immediate dismissal of the three junior engineers involved in the fraudulent activity. The investigation conclusively revealed that these officers had obtained their positions by presenting falsified proof of experience.

Despite this setback, Commissioner Vikram Kumar has reassured the public that the recruitment process for the position of Junior Engineer in the Pune Municipal Corporation will proceed as planned. With 150 vacancies still available, the corporation remains committed to ensuring a fair and transparent selection process to fill these positions. Measures will be put in place to prevent similar incidents in the future and maintain the integrity of the recruitment process within the PMC.
