In celebration of World Philosophy Day, proclaimed by UNESCO to emphasize the enduring value of philosophy, the New Acropolis Pune branch took center stage in Pune with a captivating theatrical presentation titled ‘Victory of Light over Darkness.’ Held at the esteemed ‘The Base’ in Erandwane, the event unfolded on the eve of Diwali, infusing the spirit of enlightenment and introspection into the festive atmosphere.
World Philosophy Day, observed every 3rd Thursday of November, is a global initiative to recognize the profound impact of philosophy on human thought, culture, and individual development.
The theatrical performance orchestrated by the New Acropolis Pune branch delved into the life of a philosopher, unraveling the journey towards inner freedom and adventure. Amidst the vivid narrative, the protagonist echoed impactful dialogues, emphasizing the significance of inner harmony and the courage to be one’s authentic self. The act reached its crescendo with a soul-stirring rendition of Rumi’s timeless classic, “Come, come whoever you are – Wanderer, Worshipper, Lover of leaving.”
Following the theatrical spectacle, Shraddha Shetty, the Branch Manager of New Acropolis Pune, addressed the audience, weaving together the threads of philosophy, theatre, and the essence of Diwali. The event transcended mere observation as participants engaged in philosophical exercises, including crafting poems inspired by personal musings and exploring diverse emotions while reciting verses.
Shraddha highlighted that while World Philosophy Day serves as a pivotal reminder of philosophy’s importance, at New Acropolis, philosophy is seamlessly integrated into everyday life as a dynamic force, inspiring individuals to explore their human potential and catalyze real-world change.
With an impressive turnout of over 150 people on Saturday, November 4th, the evening unfolded as a celebration of ‘Philosophy in Action,’ curated and hosted by the vibrant young members of New Acropolis Pune.
