Maharashtra Schools Embrace Digital Transformation: Online Student Attendance from December 1

Introduction: The education landscape in Maharashtra is set to undergo a significant digital transformation, with the introduction of an online student attendance registration system for classes 1st to 10th. The Maharashtra Primary Education Council is taking a pioneering step to streamline the attendance recording process in local bodies, private aided, and partially aided schools across the state. This innovative move is scheduled to commence on December 1 and is expected to revolutionize the way student attendance is managed.

SwiftChat Application: The Key to Streamlined Attendance: The backbone of this initiative is the SwiftChat application, which will serve as the primary platform for recording student attendance. The Maharashtra Primary Education Council has also launched the Vidya Samishka Kendra in Pune, which will play a pivotal role in data collection and analysis in the education sector.

Teacher Training and Readiness: To ensure a seamless transition to online attendance registration, teachers at the division, taluka, and center levels have undergone training to become proficient in using the attendance bot within the SwiftChat application. This training equips them with the necessary skills to efficiently record student attendance and adapt to the digital approach.

Procedure and Guidelines: Pradeep Kumar Dange, the State Project Director of Maharashtra Primary Education Council, has issued clear instructions for the online attendance registration process. Classroom teachers are required to download the SwiftChat application and utilize the attendance bot within the app to record attendance.

The circular emphasizes the use of the school’s UDISE number and the teacher’s school number for the registration process. It also emphasizes the importance of using the mobile number linked to the school number. In case of any changes, these details should be promptly updated on the school website.

Seamless Transition to Digital Attendance: The state is committed to ensuring a smooth transition to online attendance tracking, and the circular provides solutions to common issues that may arise during the registration process. The use of the school website, Saral website, UDISE, and updated information on these platforms is encouraged to facilitate the attendance registration process effectively.
