Cheating Incidents Surge: Pune Records Second Highest Cases in Maharashtra HSC Exams

During this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations in Maharashtra, a total of 237 cases of cheating were reported, spanning from February 22 to March 19.

Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar registered the highest number of cheating cases, with 106 reported incidents, followed closely by Pune with 52 cases. Surprisingly, Kolhapur reported zero cases.

The incidents of cheating were most prevalent during language and science exams, while social sciences witnessed negligible occurrences. The Physics exam recorded the highest single-day total of 50 cases, with Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar contributing 23 and 20 cases, respectively.

Chemistry and Biology, along with Music Studies, each saw 48 cases on two separate days. Notably, Kolhapur did not record any cheating cases, while Konkan reported only 7 cases, the lowest in the state. Amravati and Mumbai each had 11 cases.

The language exams held between February 21 and 24 saw the highest number of cheating cases, with 14 reported during the Hindi exam. Konkan reported seven cases on that day, the only instance for the district. Mumbai reported one case during the Book Keeping and Accounting exam.

Interestingly, there were no cheating cases registered for defense studies, psychology, philosophy, business studies, and Sanskrit. Last year, 242 cases were recorded during the HSC exams.

On February 23, exams for 13 languages, including Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, French, and Spanish, were conducted. This day witnessed 44 cases of cheating, although data for English exams was unavailable.
