BITS Pilani Envisions 5-Year BE-MBA Integration for Holistic Education

Pilani: The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani is exploring the introduction of a pioneering integrated engineering-management programme, allowing students to earn both a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree within a span of five years.

V Ramgopal Rao, the Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani, revealed ongoing discussions with the authorities at BITS School of Management (BITSoM) to facilitate engineering graduates to complete their MBA within a year. The anticipated programme is poised for launch in the upcoming academic year, according to Rao, who shared this information during the inauguration of BITS Pilani’s fifth campus near Kalyan.

Background of BITS Pilani: Established in 1964 in Pilani, Rajasthan, BITS Pilani has evolved into one of the prestigious institutes of eminence. It caters to 80,000 students across five campuses situated in Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad, Dubai, and the newly inaugurated campus near Kalyan. The institute, known for its science and engineering programs, is now venturing into diverse domains to create a more comprehensive curriculum.

New Campus and Multidisciplinary Approach: The recently inaugurated 63-acre residential campus, constructed at a cost of Rs1,600 crore, was unveiled by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. It will house BITS’s management, law, and design schools.
