Covering an astounding area of 3,04,92,000 square feet, Laxmi Vilas Palace is four times larger than Buckingham Palace. In comparison, Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia spans 48,780 square feet, making Laxmi Vilas Palace truly awe-inspiring in terms of its sheer size and grandeur. The palace boasts over 170 rooms, each exuding opulence and magnificence.

Originally constructed in 1890 by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, the cost of building Laxmi Vilas Palace amounted to approximately GBP 180,000 at that time. The palace’s architecture reflects a blend of various styles, including Indo-Saracenic, Hindu, Mughal, and Gothic influences. It is a testament to the rich history and architectural brilliance of the Gaekwad dynasty.

One of the notable features of Laxmi Vilas Palace is the Darbar Hall, adorned with a mesmerizing Venetian mosaic floor. Surrounding the Darbar Hall is a sprawling garden with enchanting water fountains, adding to the palace’s charm and splendor. The palace also houses a remarkable collection of ancient armory and sculptures, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.

These include the LVP Banquets and Conventions, the Moti Bagh Palace, and the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum Building. The Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum displays a remarkable collection of rare paintings by renowned artist Raja Ravi Verma.

The Moti Bagh Cricket Ground, situated within the palace compound, offers recreational facilities such as a swimming pool, club house, gymnasium, and even a golf course. The palace’s sprawling estate encompasses diverse elements to cater to different interests and preferences.
