Jalgaon: A heartbreaking incident unfolded when a tree suddenly fell onto the vehicle carrying the team from the Economic Offenses Branch, resulting in the tragic deaths of an assistant police inspector and the driver. Additionally, three other occupants in the car suffered severe injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at Erandol Rural Hospital.
The incident occurred around 9 o’clock on Thursday night near Anjani Dam along the Erandol-Kasoda route.
The victims have been identified as Sudarshan Dater, an Assistant Police Inspector from the Jalgaon Economic Offenses Branch, and the driver, Ajay Chaudhary. Chandrakant Shinde, Nilesh Suryavanshi, and Bharat Jethwe are among the injured individuals who sustained serious wounds.
According to the information received, the police team from the Economic Offenses Branch was en route to investigate a case in Pilkhod when the tragic incident took place near Anjani Dam. A tree situated on the roadside unexpectedly collapsed onto their vehicle. The driver and Assistant Inspector Sudarshan Dater, who were seated in the front, tragically lost their lives instantly. Upon receiving news of the incident, Assistant Police Inspector Yogita Narkhede from Kasoda Police Station swiftly arrived at the scene and, with the help of local residents, extricated the injured police personnel. They were promptly transported to Erandol Rural Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention.
