Swift Police Action: Kondhwa Police Rescue Abducted Victim, Apprehend Kidnappers in Malshiras

n a commendable display of efficiency, the Kondhwa police have successfully rescued a kidnapping victim and apprehended three suspects from Malshiras in the Solapur district. The operation unfolded after a distress call regarding the abduction of Amit Appaso Chavan was received by the Pune Police control room on the evening of February 10, 2024.

Following the distress call, a case under Sections 365 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was swiftly registered at the Kondhwa Police Station. Led by Senior Police Inspector Santosh Sonwane and Pune Police officer Mansingh Patil from the Crime Branch, the investigative team tirelessly pursued leads to trace the suspects.

Initially, there were indications that the suspects were in Latur with the kidnapped victim. Collaborating with Police Officer Rathod of Latur, the local crime branch worked to track the suspects’ vehicle. However, the suspects continuously changed locations, presenting a challenge to the investigation.

Acting on credible information, Police Officer Dinesh Patil mobilized a team to Malshiras, where they successfully located the victim, Amit Chavan, being held captive in a maroon-colored Honda City car. The police conducted a rapid raid, rescuing Amit Chavan and apprehending the three suspects—Suraj Rajendra More, Vikram Singh Laxmanrao Patil, and Prasad Kulkarni.

Investigations have revealed that the kidnapping was motivated by a financial dispute, which is currently under scrutiny. Additionally, based on a complaint filed by the wife of co-accused Suraj Rajendra More, a separate case has been registered at the Kondhwa Police Station under Sections 376, 377, and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The police have determined that the abduction of Amit Chavan was an attempt to recover funds allegedly embezzled through fraudulent means, shedding light on the complex nature of the case.
