KOLHAPUR : Former corporator Shubhada Patil and API Rahul Raut who involved a young businessman from Gadhinglaj Santosh Shinde in a fake case and who had demanded an extortion of ₹1 crore, have been remanded to five-day police custody. Santosh Shinde had died by suicide with his wife and daughter by drinking poison.
Later, former corporator Shubhada Patil and API Rahul had absconded from Gadhinglaj.
Shubhada Patil and Rahul Raut while harassing Santosh Shinde had also misbehaved with Shinde’s son Arjun. Santosh Shinde had mentioned names two youths from Pune along with Patil and Raut in the suicide note and had mentioned that these four should be held responsible for their suicide.
Meanwhile, MLA Hasan Mushrif visited the residence of Santosh Shinde on Sunday (June 25) and offered condolences to his family. Santosh Shinde’s mother Sumitra Shinde, sister Pratibha Mandekar and relatives could not control their emotions. Sumitra Shinde asked what was the fault of her grandson and started crying. Santosh Shinde’s mother said, “My son was a simple and straightforward person. We have come up the hard way. What was the fault of my little grandson?” Even Mushrif could not control his emotions.
