Pune: Youth Loses Life While Collecting Wild Vegetables in the Forest

Pune: A 23-year-old youth who went to pick wild vegetables in the forest died after falling from the cliff. This incident has created a sensation in Ghodegaon area. The name of the dead youth is Ajay Shashikant Karale and he is a resident of Kanse village in Ambegaon taluka. His untimely death has left the family in mourning.

Ajay Karale, Akshay Karale and Santhosh Chapte went to the mountain to collect chavya shoots and kolu vegetables in the forest of Bhimashankar. But because it was raining, the mountain paths and sides had become slippery. Ajay Karale’s foot slipped at a difficult turn while climbing the mountain and he fell down 25 to 30 feet.

Ajay was hit on the head and his arm was fractured. His friends who were with him immediately brought him down from the mountain and shifted him to Ghodegaon Rural Hospital. But by then he had given up his life. He died due to a blow to the head. Due to the sudden death of Ajay Karale, mourning spread over the entire village.

The Forest Department has appealed that one should not go to such places in the forest to collect wild vegetables, otherwise a major accident may occur. Ajay’s sudden death has left his friends traumatized and a mountain of grief has fallen on the family.
