Pune: College Teacher Faces Legal Action for Molestation of Minor Girl in Wanwadi; Police Invoked POCSO

Pune: In Pune’s Wanwadi area, a minor girl studying at the junior college was shockingly molested by her college teacher. In this regard, a 17-year-old victim girl filed a complaint against the accused teacher at Wanwadi police station on Tuesday, January 30. The police have booked the teacher under the POCSO Act and started an investigation into the case.

The 17-year-old victim girl studies at a private junior college in Wanwadi. For the past few months, she has been constantly facing harassment from the accused, Ramesh Chavan, who is a professor at the same college.

She complained that the accused was constantly harassing her, texting, “I love you; I genuinely like you,” etc. He even started video calling her on her phone. This incident took place between June 15, 2023, and January 27, 2024, at the college in Wanwadi.

Shockingly, a few days ago, the accused called the victim girl in the teachers’ staff room of the college. After that, he molested the girl, objectifying her by asking if she wanted a kiss. The girl further complained that he also misbehaved with her, with the intention of disrespecting her chastity and causing embarrassment to her in the staff room.

Taking note of the girl’s complaint, the Wanwadi police immediately apprehended the accused and booked him under Sections 9(f), 10, and 12 of IPC 354(d) and the POCSO Act. The Police Sub-Inspector, Santosh Gaikwad, is conducting further investigation into it.
