Navi Mumbai Woman PSI Arrested by ACB for Accepting ₹50,000 Bribe

The Navi Mumbai Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has apprehended a woman Police Sub Inspector (PSI) red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹50,000. The PSI, identified as Sindhu Tukaram Munde from Uran police station in Navi Mumbai, had demanded ₹60,000 from the complainant for providing assistance in a registered case. An FIR has been filed against the woman PSI at the Uran police station, and she has been taken into custody.

The complainant’s father is also named in the FIR, indicating their involvement in the case. Initially, PSI Munde had demanded ₹60,000 as a bribe, but after negotiations, she agreed to accept ₹50,000. Unwilling to engage in corrupt practices, the complainant decided to report the matter to the ACB. After verifying the complaint, the ACB set up a trap operation.

On June 14, 2023, PSI Sindhu Munde was caught red-handed accepting the bribe of ₹50,000 from the complainant in the presence of witnesses. An FIR has been registered against her at the Uran police station under Section 7 of the Prohibition of Corruption Act, and she has been subsequently arrested.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Thane ACB SP Sunil Lokhande and Addl SP Anil Gherdikar, with the supervision of DySP Ashwini Santosh Patil. The arrest of a woman PSI while accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 has garnered attention and caused a stir in the region.

This incident highlights the commitment of the ACB to combat corruption and uphold the principles of justice and integrity within the police force. Such actions play a crucial role in maintaining public trust and ensuring a fair and transparent law enforcement system.
