Illegal Gold Smuggling Foiled at Pune Airport: Over Rs 20 Lakh Worth of Gold Paste Seized from Passenger

In a recent incident at Pune Airport, custom officials have successfully apprehended a passenger who arrived from Dubai and confiscated gold paste worth over Rs 20 lakh from his possession. The custom officials discovered that the gold paste had been concealed in the passenger’s rectum.

The incident took place on July 1, 2023, when officers from Pune Customs intercepted a passenger who arrived on SG 52 flight from Dubai to Pune. Upon profiling the passenger, they found two capsules hidden in his rectum. Subsequently, the officers recovered 420.71 grams of gold paste, which is estimated to be valued at Rs. 20,30,974.

The custom officials have stated that further investigations are currently underway to gather more information about the case. The smuggling of gold and other precious items is a serious offense and strict actions will be taken against those involved.
