Warje Police Cracks the Case: Stolen Laptops Returned to Students

Pune, 6th November 2023: In a remarkable feat of law enforcement, officials from the Warje police station have successfully recovered 15 laptops that were stolen from students’ rooms, putting an end to the victims’ distress.

The stolen laptops were seized from the custody of the arrested thief, identified as Arjun Tukaram Zade (22), a resident of Hingane Home Colony in Karvenagar. This operation also resulted in the arrest of two more individuals, Prateek Mandekar and Rishikesh Shirke, both residents of Mavleali, Karvenagar. As a result of their arrests, additional stolen valuables were successfully retrieved.

The elated students, who were victims of these thefts, received their laptops today from Commissioner of Police Retesh Kumaarr and Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik. The ceremony also featured the presence of DCP (Zone 3) Suhail Sharma and ACP Bhimrao Tele, alongside their dedicated team of officers.

The modus operandi of the thieves involved targeting buildings and hostels situated near educational institutions within the jurisdiction of the Warje police station. The thieves took advantage of students who unwittingly facilitated their thefts by leaving keys in easily accessible locations, such as shoes or near doors. This allowed the thieves to swiftly enter the rooms by unlocking the doors.

The recovered items encompassed a total of 15 laptops, 7 laptop chargers, a camera, and two motorcycles. Remarkably, the arrested culprits were not limited to committing crimes solely in Pune; they were also found to be involved in criminal activities reported in Mahad City Police Station and Mangaon Police Station, underscoring the extent of their unlawful operations. The collective value of the recovered stolen items amounts to Rs 6.44 lakhs.

The dedicated investigative team, led by Senior Police Inspector Sunil Jaitapurkar, included officers such as Police Inspector (Crime) Ajay Kulkarni, Police Sub-Inspectors Narendra Mundhe, and Rameshwar Parve, along with a team of diligent police personnel. The team’s relentless efforts resulted in the restoration of stolen property and the apprehension of the suspects, bringing relief to the affected students.
