Tushar Gandhi Moves Pune Court Seeking FIR Against Sambhaji Bhide

Pune: Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, is set to file a case at the Pune court today, seeking the initiation of a First Information Report (FIR) against Hindutva activist Sambhaji Bhide for his contentious remarks regarding Mahatma Gandhi. This decision comes after local law enforcement failed to take action in response to a written complaint filed in this regard.

Tushar Gandhi, along with Advocate Aseem Sarode, Kumar Saptarshi, Vishwambar Chaudhary, and Anwar Rajan, will file the case at the court today. Tushar had previously submitted a written complaint to the Deccan police station in the city last month, requesting the registration of an FIR against Bhide under the relevant sections of criminal defamation for his controversial comments regarding Mahatma Gandhi’s lineage at an event in Amravati. This remark had sparked protests in various parts of the state.

Furthermore, an FIR had already been lodged against Sambhaji Bhide in Amravati for his contentious remarks following a complaint by social activists. Last month, a group of activists from Pune had also called for the regulation of the use of the names of the country’s revered leaders to prevent defamation.
