Tragedy Strikes in Ambegaon Taluka: Brother and Sister Drown While Catching Crabs

Ambegaon, August 4, 2023: The serene village of Gangapur Khurd in Ambegaon taluka, Pune district, was engulfed by grief on Thursday, August 3, as a heartbreaking incident of drowning unfolded, claiming the lives of two young siblings.

The victims were identified as Aryan Arun Kale, aged 11, and his sister Anjali Arun Kale, aged 15. The incident was reported to the Ghodegaon police station under the Pune rural police by Aditya Jadhav.

According to the available information, the siblings had embarked on an adventure near a stream adjacent to the Varsubai temple on Thursday, with the intent of catching crabs. Tragically, the water level in the stream was unusually high. As time elapsed without their return, concerns grew, prompting a search operation. During this search, the lifeless bodies of both children were discovered in the stream. Although local residents promptly retrieved them from the water, it was evident that their vital signs had ceased.

An ambulance rapidly arrived at the scene and transported the victims to the Ghodegaon Rural Health Hospital. Regrettably, the medical team at the hospital pronounced both Aryan and Anjali as brought dead.

Aryan was a student in Class V, while Anjali was enrolled in Class IX at Shri Hanuman Vidyalaya in Gangapur Budruk.

The heart-wrenching incident has cast a shadow of sorrow over both Gangapur Khurd and Gangapur Budruk areas. Police Sub Inspector Kishore Waghaj is leading the investigation into this tragic occurrence, under the guidance of Assistant Police Inspector Kiran Bhalekar of the Ghodegaon Police Station. The entire community mourns the loss of these young lives.
