Sowing Seeds of Change: DORBIT Foundation’s Tree Plantation Drive on National Tree Day

Pune, 6th August 2023: National Tree Day, observed on the first Sunday of August every year, was commemorated with fervor as Pune’s DORBIT Foundation NGO initiated a significant Tree Plantation Drive. Dedicated to combating climate change and nurturing a more sustainable environment, this impactful campaign aimed to enrich a school with new saplings, furthering the cause of biodiversity and green living.

As part of their “One Time Activities” initiative, DoRBit Foundation’s volunteers are dedicated to embarking on diverse social projects each month. For this mission, the organization focused on planting trees in the premises of Mahatma Phule Apang Prashikshan Kendra (MPAPK), located in Hinjawadi Phase 3, Maan village of Pune. MPAPK uniquely serves as a training institute and a hospitable hostel for physically challenged adults, amalgamating education and care. Institute Headmaster Shri Ganesh Jagtap emphasized the intrinsic significance of tree planting in nurturing environmental awareness. He stated, “Our aim is to foster a sense of accountability towards the environment within every individual, including our students. By involving the community in tree plantation activities, we aspire to cultivate a shared consciousness and a sustained commitment to preserving our natural resources.”

The orchestrated effort was spearheaded by core members of DORBIT, Vijaya Shrivastava and Abhishek Singh, who meticulously planned and executed the event. They expressed gratitude to the enthusiastic volunteers and their families for contributing to this altruistic endeavor. The Purpose for Life group, led by Shankar Pandey, played a pivotal role by carefully selecting suitable tree species and pledging ongoing maintenance to ensure the well-being of the newly planted greenery. Young participants were equally spirited, actively participating in the planting process and imbibing the importance of nurturing a green ecosystem. In support of the cause, active volunteer Suhas Maske extended the tree plantation initiative to Aurangabad as well.

The event witnessed the active participation of numerous DoRBit Foundation members, including Vipin Mohit Shrivastava, Indrajit Roy, Impa Roy Shrivastava, Abhishek Singh, Vijaya Shrivastava, Shankar Pandey, Sarojben Panchal, Tanaya Kapole, Suzanne Mondal, Raushan Kumar, Anjali Kumari, Puspa Roy, Vinod Kumar Singh, Punam Bhalekar, Rakeysh, Sahil, Shruti, Nikhil Kushwaha, Mayank Mishra, Vidyadhar Misal, Parul Anand, Mrinal Thakur, Anurag Kautilya, Punam Bhalekar, Vankat, Tanaya Kopale, Aslam Dhanani, Karan Mishra, Monica Chaudhary, Guru Raj, Rahul Pathak, Ritesh Puri, Kenisha Shrivastava, Atharva Shrivastava, Ayansh Singh, Trisha Singh, Mangesh Satpute, Snehal Akotkar Satpute, Vardhan Satpute, and Dyuti.
