Investor Scammed: Chikhali Resident Loses Rs 25 Lakh in Stock Market Fraud

Pune: In a distressing incident, a 40-year-old resident of Chikhali has been defrauded of Rs. 25 lakh 83 thousand in an elaborate scheme promising a staggering 350% return on investment in the stock market. The deception unfolded online between November 13, 2023, and January 1, 2024, leading the victim to file a complaint with the Chikhali Police Station.

The complainant, whose identity is protected, alleged that the accused, identified as Amit Shah, and an unnamed female accomplice, lured them into investing in the stock market. The victim was initially persuaded to invest Rs. 15 lakh 83 thousand through Roark Capital India, with promises of a remarkable 350% profit. However, after attempting to withdraw the alleged earnings, the victim was coerced into depositing an additional Rs. 10 lakh. Despite compliance, no returns or refunds were received, resulting in a substantial loss of Rs. 25 lakh 83 thousand.

The Chikhali police have registered a case against the accused and are actively investigating the matter to bring the perpetrators to justice. This incident serves as a stark reminder for individuals to exercise caution and conduct thorough research before engaging in financial transactions, especially in high-return investment schemes.
