Residents of Hillside Apartments and other societies in Ramtekdi Industrial Area, particularly around the 100-meter stretch towards Handewadi, are expressing deep frustration over the prolonged delay in completing roadwork that began in September 2023. The incomplete project not only disrupts daily life but also poses safety risks due to the absence of street lights, turning the area into a potential hotspot for accidents.
Residents Speak Out
Anugrah Bhatia, a resident of Hillside Apartments, highlighted the deteriorating situation, stating that despite the initial road being in good condition, the ongoing upgrade to a cement road has been stalled for over six months. The lack of progress and street lights has led to a surge in accidents, impacting the safety and convenience of the residents.
Connectivity Woes and Traffic Jams
Anand Utarkar, another resident, emphasized the road’s connectivity significance for their society and nearby industries. The transition from a tarred road to a cement one has left a significant gap, causing traffic jams and creating hazards. The inconvenience extends to trucks and heavy vehicles accessing the nearby industries, compounding the issues faced by the residents.
PMC’s Response
Balasaheb Patil, Ward Officer of PMC Hadapsar-Mundhwa Ward, acknowledged the residents’ concerns and assured a thorough inspection at the site. He pledged necessary actions to address the ongoing issues and alleviate the challenges faced by the residents.
