Pune-Daund Train Delay Sparks Passenger Outcry: Allegations of Wheel Breakdown Surface

Passengers relying on the Pune-Daund train route have raised concerns over recurring delays, attributing them to wheel breakdowns and damages in the train’s rake. The issue, allegedly persistent and affecting commuters regularly, has sparked distress among students, workers, professionals, and laborers who depend on the timely operation of this crucial railway service.

Abhishek Sonavale, a Station Consultative Committee Member at Kedgaon Station, shared details about a recent incident on February 28, 2024. He reported that the Pune-Daund bound DEMU train experienced a wheel breakdown and damage at Loni railway station. The consistent occurrence of such technical failures has led passengers to demand immediate solutions to ensure uninterrupted and reliable rail services.

Expressing the magnitude of the problem, Sonavale emphasized the urgent need for the railway administration to initiate Suburban EMU Local Service between Pune and Daund. This, according to him, could alleviate the impact of technical issues associated with DEMU/MEMU trains.

Akshay Tekawade, SCC Member Central Railway, highlighted the frustration among commuters due to the frequent failures of DEMUs/MEMUs. He questioned the efficacy of complaining to higher authorities, citing the lack of concrete actions taken in response to the reported issues.

Despite efforts, Pune Pulse was unable to connect with railway officials for their response on the matter.
