Pune: Two seriously injured in dacoity bid in Aundh

Pune : A gang of five-six dacoits hit three persons with a rod with an intention to loot them and injured two of them seriously in Aundh in the wee hours on Thursday.

According to the police, the injured have been admitted to a private hospital and their health is critical. The incident took place on the road in front of Purvi Mobile Shoppee in Aundh at around 5.15 am on Thursday.

Shreyas Satish Shetty (30), a resident of Khadki, lodged a complaint at the Chatuhshrungi Police Station. A case has been registered against unidentified accused in the age group of 20 to 25 under sections 397, 307, 341 of the IPC, along with provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act.

The injured have been identified as Ramsobatikumar Thakku Mandal (38) and Samir Roy Chawdhary (77), both residents of Aundh. They are being treated at Medipoint Hospital and their condition is critical.

According to the police, the complainant was heading towards his office at around 5.15 am on a bicycle. Four members of the gang stopped him and demanded money. He told them that he had no money. One of the dacoits forcefully checked his pocket. The complainant tried to resist him when another dacoit hit him with a rod. When the complainant tried to run away, they chased him. The complainant turned back to check whether they were still chasing him, he saw them hitting another person at Mangalam Construction. Later, the accused escaped in an auto-rickshaw and on a two-wheeler.

When the complainant visited the Medipoint Hospital, he met Samir Roy Chawdhary there, who was earlier injured in the dacoits’ attack. Ramsobatikumar Mandal was also admitted to the hospital later.

Addl CP Manoj Patil, DCP Vijaykumar Magar, DCP Amol Zende, ACP Arti Bansode, Sr PI Ajay Kulkarni, PI Ganesh Mane, PI Yuvaraj Nandre, API Narendra Patil, Rajkumar Kendre and PI Sachin Jadhav visited the incident spot. PI Yuvaraj Nandre is investigating further.
