Pune: In a financial embezzlement deceit, a 48-year-old resident residing in Bhelkenagar, Kothrud, registered a complaint against two people yesterday. He accused that, in the false claim of accruing him greater benefit, the accused cheated on him to 1 crore and 11 lakh rupees. In this regard, Shivajinagar police are conducting further investigations.
The plaintiff, identified as Pratap Balasaheb Dhamale, is a resident of Bhelkenagar, Kothrud. He complained that two accused, identified as Anna Tukaram Lashkare (57) and Anil Sarjerao Paval (47), a resident of Warje, lured him, claiming greater benefit if he invested in a developing site in Ahmednagar. The accused claimed that if he invested now in this site, it would earn him crores of rupees.
Trusting their words, the plaintiff invested a sum of approximately 1 crore, 11 lakh, and 45 thousand rupees in check and cash from time to time. This has been going on for the last 25 years, that is, from 2008 to date.
Even after several years, the accused did not see any sign of development on the proposed site, and hence, he went to the accused to ask for his money back. At that time, the accused gave him two checks to deposit in the back.
However, when the plaintiff went to the bank to cash the check, to his surprise, the bank employees informed him that the accused had stopped the payment from the bank. When the plaintiff confronted the accused about this, they threatened to kill him.
Being aware that he fell into the well-organised trap of the accused, he lodged a formal complaint against the duo at Shivajinagar Police Station on Thursday. Taking note of his complaint, police registered under IPC 420, 406, 506, and 34 against both the accused and initiated an investigation under police sub-inspector Badhe.
