Pune University Revolutionizes Exam Process: Introduces 24 and 36-Page Answer Sheets

Pune News: In a significant move to streamline examination processes, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has announced that students will now receive answer sheets of 24 and 36 pages for their upcoming exams. This decision aims to eliminate the need for supplements, reduce costs, and simplify the evaluation process for the university and its 7.5 lakh students across affiliated colleges in Pune, Ahmednagar, and Nashik districts.

Efficiency and Cost Reduction: A Win-Win Scenario

The university’s decision to provide longer answer sheets comes as a relief for students who, in the past, had to deal with the additional task of attaching supplements to their answer sheets. This not only consumed valuable time but also led to logistical challenges in distributing and marking supplements separately. The new approach eliminates these hurdles and is expected to enhance the overall examination process.

Dr. Mahesh Kakade, Director of the Examination and Evaluation Board of the university, highlighted the ongoing improvements in the examination work, including the introduction of online facilities for papers. He stated, “From the upcoming exam, students will be given answer sheets of 24 and 36 pages. This will stop the inconvenience to students and teachers. Also, there will be no need to give supplements.”

Customized Answer Sheets for Varied Exam Lengths

Under the new system, students will receive 24-page answer sheets for examinations up to 50 marks, while exams ranging from 70 to 100 marks will be accommodated with 36-page answer sheets. This ensures that students have sufficient space to complete their entire question paper without the need for additional supplements.

D B Pawar, Member of the SPPU Management Council, expressed support for the decision, stating, “The students’ time will be saved as they don’t have to take supplements along with the answer sheets and bind the supplements. Also, the time spent on masking will be saved. Therefore, the decision to give 24- and 36-page answer sheets to the students is welcome.”

This innovative approach is expected to create a more efficient and seamless examination experience for both students and faculty at Pune University.
