PUNE: Five to six people were trapped in the lift between fourth and fifth floor of the new building of Sassoon Hospital. They were successfully rescued by the jawans of the fire brigade. They said there was no loss of life in the incident.

According to the information, the control room of the fire brigade was informed that a lift was stuck in Sassoon Hospital and some people had been trapped. A fire tender and a rescue van were sent from the fire brigade head office. The lift was stuck between the fourth and fifth floor for an hour. The jawans confirmed that six people had been stuck in the lift.

The jawans assured the people that they would be safely pulled out. Some jawans went to the terrace of the 11 storey building and began the rescue efforts. Considering the mental state of the people who had been stuck, a fan was made available and a source of air was started.

Realising the gravity of the situation, the jawans bent the door of the lift and went to the seventh floor with employees of Omega Company and started and stopping the lift. Later, four hospital employees (three men and a woman) and two citizens (males) were safely rescued at 12.30 pm.
