Medicines, PPE kits and saline bottles have been found The godown is located near the building of Aundh district hospital. The godown earlier was the residence of the district surgeon. There is a huge stock of Remdesivir worth crores of rupees.

Cupboards, racks, tables, mattresses have been also dumped on the terrace. Now, IV bottles, tablets, ORS packets and saline bottles have also been kept there. Medicines which have expired should be audited and should be treated as biomedical waste. It has to be disposed of scientifically. However, since the medicines have been duped on the terrace, questions are being raised about the administration of the district hospital. This has also raised serious questions.

Sharad Shetty, a social worker in the medical field said, “Medicines and packets are lying on the terrace of the district hospital building. Remdesivir worth crores are lying in the godown. No audit has been done. The hospital does not carry out audits of any medicines. Hospital officials tell patients that medicines are not available and available medicines are thrown in the garbage.”

Dr Nagnath Yampalle, District Surgeon, Pune said, “The district hospital does not throw medicines into the open. If some medicines have been thrown away, they must be expired. Information would be collected and necessary action would be taken.”
