Kasba Ganpati Mandir Implements Dress Code to Maintain Sanctity

A banner with instructions regarding entry into Kasba Ganpati Mandir has raised eyebrows as it outlines a dress code for devotees. Placed prominently at the temple entrance, the banner calls for adherence to specific attire to maintain the sanctity of the religious space.

Sunil Dhanwat, a member of the Maharashtra Temple Federation, expressed his belief in the importance of appropriate attire when visiting a religious place. He emphasized that just as there are dress codes for various occasions, temples should also have specific guidelines. This initiative, which has been in the works for a year, is now being implemented in all 434 temples across Maharashtra.

Local vendors and residents near the Kasba Ganpati Mandir have shown support for the dress code. A flower vendor mentioned that it is the right decision, advocating for appropriate attire during temple visits. However, the social administrator of Shree Kasba Ganpati Mandal, Akshay Dhere, claimed to be unaware of the situation, indicating that further inquiries are needed.

The rules displayed on the banner include:

  • Indecent Attire Prohibited: Devotees are advised not to enter the temple wearing indecent or ragged clothes, such as ripped or torn jeans.
  • Sattvic Attire Encouraged: Visitors are urged to wear sattvic attire in line with Indian cultural traditions.
  • Cooperation with Temple Culture: Devotees are requested to cooperate with the temple administration by following cultural norms.

The banner concludes by stating, “It is a religious duty to protect the integrity of the temple!” This move aims to preserve the spiritual atmosphere within the temple premises and foster a sense of reverence among the visitors.
