Notice Issued to Chhagan Bhujbal for Disparaging Remarks About Maratha Community

Chhagan Bhujbal, a prominent Minister and MLA associated with the NCP’s Ajit Pawar group, finds himself in a precarious situation as he receives a notice for making derogatory remarks about the Maratha community.

The notice, delivered in response to Bhujbal’s comments during the Samata Parishad meeting in Mumbai, highlights that his words have caused significant offense to the Maratha community. It unequivocally demands that Bhujbal promptly retract his statements and issue an apology. The notice carries a stern warning of potential legal action if these conditions are not met.

The notice was served to Bhujbal by Satish Kale from Pimpri-Chinchwad, through the legal representation of Adv Atul Patil. Kale, who recently embarked on an indefinite fast to advocate for Maratha community reservation, underlines that the reservation demand is not intended to target any specific caste or individual. However, he believes that Bhujbal’s remarks are fostering division among communities.

The derogatory comments made by Bhujbal were directed at Manoj Jarange Patil’s rally, which took place on October 14 in Antarwali Sarati, Jalna district. These remarks have not only hurt sentiments but have also deepened the offense taken by the Maratha community.

The notice underscores that, as a minister in the Maharashtra government, Bhujbal’s statements are seen as a violation of his oath of office. Therefore, it firmly insists on a retraction of the statements and a genuine apology to the Maratha community. Failing compliance, the notice warns of a potential legal course of action.
