Pune Sikh Community Honors Sacrifice of Sahibzade on Bal Diwas”

In a poignant tribute to the legacy of the Sahibzade, the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Pune Sikh community gathered at Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar in Pune Camp to celebrate Bal Diwas on December 26. This solemn occasion is dedicated to remembering the valor and martyrdom of the Sahibzade, an integral part of Sikh history.

Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh, Zorawar Singh, and Fateh Singh, known as the Sahibzade, are revered for their extraordinary courage and sacrifice. Their tales, deeply embedded in Sikh tradition, convey the profound values of bravery and unwavering faith.

This year’s celebration took a unique and touching form. Children, aged 6 months to 10 years, adorned the traditional Sikh uniform, Bana, symbolizing the Sant Sipahi (Saint Soldier) ethos. This act of remembrance aimed to connect the younger generation with the inspiring stories of their heritage.

The highlight of the event was the participation of 30 young Singhs and Kaurs, including Harchet Singh, Binnat Kaur, Zorawar Singh, and Chetas Singh, with Gurbaz Singh and Nimar Singh being the youngest at just 6 months old. Taking the stage, they filled the air with soulful melodies of Gurbani hymns. Their voices, in unison, were not merely a performance but a powerful reminder of the legacy they inherit and carry forward.

The core objective of the event was to instill a sense of the rich heritage within these young minds. By recalling the sacrifices of the young Sahibzade, the community aspires to kindle the spirit of righteousness and moral courage in its youth.

As the community united in reverence and celebration, the day became more than a reflection on history; it became a stride forward in keeping the spirit of the Sahibzade alive. The Pune Sikh community’s commitment to educating their youth about the sacrifices made for their faith and principles stands as a beacon of inspiration, not only for the Sikh community but for all who value courage, integrity, and the unyielding fight for justice.
