Pune: State Government Approves Zone-3 And Additional Divisions For Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate

The Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, a crucial law enforcement entity in Maharashtra, has recently received a substantial boost in its operational capabilities. This development follows the recent approval by the Home Department of the Maharashtra State Government to establish Zone-3 and introduce four additional divisions within the commissionerate’s jurisdiction. The decision to expand the commissionerate’s structure is a direct response to the region’s evolving landscape characterized by population growth, urbanization, industrialization, a proliferation of educational institutions, and the imperative to maintain law and order effectively.

Back in 2018, the government initially sanctioned two zones and four divisions for the Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate. However, Commissioner of Police, Vinay Kumar Choubey, astutely recognized the pressing need to reconfigure the commissionerate to effectively address the dynamic challenges faced by the region. With the primary objective of bolstering law enforcement capabilities and providing superior services to the citizens, Commissioner Choubey tirelessly advocated for the creation of an additional zone and two divisions. Additionally, the appointment of Deputy Commissioners of Police was deemed essential to enhance traffic management and planning.

On May 17, 2023, a comprehensive proposal was meticulously prepared and submitted by the Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate to the government, outlining the proposed changes. Subsequently, on September 4, 2023, the Home Department granted its official approval for the addition of Zone-3 and the establishment of four new divisions within the Commissionerate of Police. In accordance with this expansion, two Deputy Commissioners of Police have already assumed their pivotal roles.

The Home Department has judiciously delineated the roles and responsibilities of the newly created zonal DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) and six Divisional ACPs (Assistant Commissioner of Police), in strict compliance with the notification received.

The office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Zone-3 is now fully operational within the Bhosari MIDC Police Station building. Sandeep Doifode, a seasoned officer with an impressive track record, has been appointed as the DCP for Zone-3, assuming the responsibility of overseeing law enforcement within this newly established zone.

Furthermore, in a move aimed at enhancing traffic management and addressing related issues more effectively, Shivaji Pawar has been designated as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the traffic branch.

In conjunction with these developments, a notification detailing the construction and commissioning of newly included Police Stations and Divisions within the jurisdiction of the respective zones and divisions has been issued by the Home Department. This reaffirms the unwavering commitment of the authorities to ensuring the safety and convenience of the residents of Pimpri Chinchwad.

The significant restructuring of the Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate is poised to have far-reaching positive effects. It is expected to not only bolster law enforcement efforts but also streamline traffic management, ultimately leading to an enhanced sense of security and convenience for the residents of the region. This strategic move by the State Government underscores their dedication to providing effective governance and safeguarding the well-being of their citizens.
