In a significant breakthrough, Pune Rural Police have successfully apprehended a prolific thief responsible for a string of daylight house burglaries that had struck fear among residents of Kirkatwadi, Nanded, and Donje areas. The accused, identified as Atul alias Attha Chandrakant Amle, aged 28 and a resident of Aakashnagar in Warje, Pune, has been taken into custody.
Amle has openly admitted to committing nine burglaries within the jurisdiction of Haveli, Rajgad, and Hinjewadi police stations. This arrest comes while he was already facing charges in 23 cases across various police stations, and he had recently been released on bail.
The authorities have seized approximately 150 grams of jewelry and a two-wheeler with an estimated value of Rs 6,64,500 from his possession. These items are suspected to have been stolen from apartments that had been forcibly entered.
Superintendent of Police (Pune rural), Ankit Goyal, issued directives to Police Inspector Avinash Shilimkar of the local crime branch, tasking him with capturing the burglars. A dedicated team was formed, and a combination of technical analysis and confidential informant information led to the arrest of the suspect in the Khadakwasla area.
The Haveli police station is now conducting a thorough investigation into the case, with a particular focus on uncovering potential links to other unsolved burglaries in the region.
