Pune: As the monsoon season continues to bless Pune with heavy rainfall, the city’s water reservoirs are witnessing a rapid increase in storage levels. The Khadakwasla Dam chain, which supplies water to Pune city, currently holds an impressive 20.42 Thousand Million Cubic feet (TMC) or 70.06 percent of its total capacity. This significant accumulation marks a promising development for the region’s water supply.
Among the four dams, Khadakwasla Dam has reached full capacity, holding 1.97 TMC, signifying a remarkable milestone in the water management efforts. Comparing the data to last year’s statistics for the same date, it is evident that there has been a notable increase in the reservoir levels.
The Varasgaon Dam, with 8.65 TMC of water, is currently at 67.46 percent of its capacity, while the Panshet Dam holds 7.93 TMC, accounting for 74.49 percent of its capacity. The Temghar Dam, with 1.87 TMC, stands at 50.39 percent of its total capacity.
The robust monsoon showers have played a crucial role in replenishing these vital water sources, ensuring a steady and sufficient water supply for the city. With the Khadakwasla Dam reaching its full capacity, the region is better equipped to tackle potential water scarcity during the dry months ahead.
