Pune: Mobile shop owner at Pavillion Mall cheated of Rs 1.12 lakh

Pune: A shop owner at a swanky mall was duped of over Rs 1.12 lakh by a man on the pretext of buying mobile phones.

The incident took place between April 24, 2024 and April 26, 2024 at Pavillion Mall on Senapati Bapat Road.

A person has been booked in this connection. Shivam Anant Valgude (22), a resident of Ambegaon Budruk, lodged a complaint at the Chatuhshrungi Police Station. A case has been registered against Vijay Bhalerao under section 420 of the IPC.

According to the police, the complainant has a mobile repair shop, Samsung Café, at Pavillion Mall. The accused booked three mobile phones online and took them from the complainant’s shop. The complainant sought to know about bill payment, to which the accused told him that he had paid it online. The complainant later realised that the bill was not paid. He called up the accused on his mobile phone and demanded the money. Bhalerao paid Rs 20,000. However, he did not pay the remaining amount.

The complainant called up the accused’s mother and sought the money. She told him that he would get it later. But never paid the pending bill. Valgude approached the police realsing that he was cheated. The police are investigating further.
