Pune Man Assaulted After Reporting Noise Complaint During Ganesh Procession, Two Arrested

In a disturbing incident in the Hadapsar area of Pune, a hotel owner was allegedly assaulted by two individuals after he called the police to complain about excessive noise during a Ganesh procession. The incident occurred on September 24, and the city police are actively searching for another suspect involved in the case.

According to the victim’s complaint filed with the police, the man, a resident of Manjari who runs a local restaurant, was present during the Ganesh procession on September 24. During the procession, the victim’s wife approached members of the Ganesh mandal, requesting them to lower the volume of their festivities. In response, some mandal members objected and subjected her to verbal abuse.

Infuriated by this confrontation, the 50-year-old hotel owner decided to call the police control room to file a complaint about the excessive noise levels. In response to his call, a police team arrived at the scene. The police officers intervened and requested the Ganesh mandal members to reduce the volume of their activities, successfully resolving the issue amicably.

However, things took a violent turn as the individuals accused of causing the noise disturbance grew angry with the complainant for involving the police. Allegedly armed with metal rods and wooden sticks, they assaulted the hotel owner. Following this assault, a case was registered at the Hadapsar Police Station, leading to the arrest of two of the alleged assailants.
