PUNE: Drug smuggler Lalit Anil Patil had recently escaped from police custody at the Sassoon Hospital. Later, questions were raised about the Pune police. Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar has taken the Sassoon Hospital administration to task. Dhangekar asked many questions to the Dean of Sassoon Hospital Dr Sanjeev Thakur.
Dhangekar has adopted an aggressive posture against the administration of the hospital. Dhangekar has asked many questions but Thakur did not answer any of the questions.
Dhangekar alleged that the dean of Sassoon Hospital is guilty and the system is faulty. “The administration of the hospital is unaware whether Lalit Patil is in a ward or in a hotel and the doctors are lying. There is a drug mafia in Pune and the police are aware of it. Lalit Patil was a patient but he was moving about freely. The ministers of Shinde group are involved in this incident,” Dhangekar alleged.
“Cases should be registered against doctors of Sassoon Hospital. The CID should probe this incident. I am going to raise this issue in the winter session of the State Assembly and I request the doctors to think about citizens and take proper steps,” Dhangekar said.
Dhangekar also alleged that there was rampant corruption at Sassoon Hospital. He asked many questions to the dean. “How can patients stay in the hospital for nine months? We want to see the documents prepared at the time of admission. Did the doctors take extra money to look after the patient? How can a matka king take treatment in a hospital for two years? I have submitted a note to the hospital’s administration seeking a response to several issues but I have not received any reply,” Dhangekar said.
