Pune: Kolkata-based professor drown in swimming pool of Hotel Pride

PUNE: A professor who had come to the city from Kolkata for work drowned in the swimming pool of a star hotel. An FIR has been registered against the life guard of the pool and the hotel’s manager. The deceased has been identified as Mohit Pramod Agarwal (35), a resident of Kolkata.

Amar Santosh Manka (34), a resident of Kharadi, has lodged a complaint at the Shivaji Nagar police station. The police have registered an FIR against the manager of Hotel Pride and the life guard of the swimming pool.
According to the police, the deceased was a professor and he used to guide students pursuing the CA course. He had come to Pune for guiding the students. His lecture had been organised at an institute.

Agarwal had entered the swimming pool of Hotel Pride located on the University Road but he drowned. The guard was absent when the incident took place. After realising that Agarwal was drowning, the life guards pulled him out. The complainant states that Agarwal died to the negligence of the hotel’s management and life guards. PSI Bajirao Naik is carrying out further investigation.
