Pune District Pensioners Embrace Digital Life Certificates for Greater ‘Ease of Living’

In a remarkable step to enhance the quality of life for Central Government pensioners, the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare has actively promoted the use of Digital Life Certificates (DLC), also known as Jeevan Pramaan. This initiative, which began with biometric submissions in 2014, has now evolved into a transformative approach with innovative technological enhancements.

Subsequently, the Department collaborated with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to develop a Face Authentication technology system based on the Aadhar database. This technological advancement enables the submission of Life Certificates directly from any Android-based smartphone, eliminating the need for external biometric devices. Launched in November 2021, this breakthrough technology has significantly increased accessibility and affordability for pensioners by leveraging smartphone-based technology.

Successful Nationwide Campaigns

In an effort to raise awareness and encourage the adoption of DLC/Face Authentication technology for Life Certificate submissions, the Department initiated a nationwide campaign in November 2022 across 37 cities, resulting in the issuance of more than 35 lakh DLCs for Central Government Pensioners. Building on this success, a nationwide campaign is currently underway from November 1st to 30th, 2023, covering 500 locations in 100 cities. This initiative aims to reach 50 lakh pensioners, with the active involvement of 17 pension disbursing banks, Ministries/Departments, Pensioners’ Welfare Associations, UIDAI, and MeitY.

To ensure that the benefits of digital Life Certificate submission reach even the remotest corners of the country and cater to super senior/sick/incapacitated pensioners, comprehensive guidelines have been issued by the Department.

Camps in Pune District

In the Pune district of Maharashtra, special camps are being organized by Bank of Maharashtra at various branches, including Hadapsar, Vadgaon Maval, Khadki, Ghorpadi, Rajgurunagar, Yerwada, Narayangaon, Pimpri, Bajirao Road, and Chinchwad. Additionally, Bank of Baroda is hosting camps at Paud Road, Station Road, Pune Camp, Dighi, and Sivaji Nagar branches. Pensioners’ Welfare Associations, including the All India Central Government Pensioners’ Association and Defence Accounts Pensioners’ Associations in Pune, are actively participating in promoting DLC and organizing camps during November 1st to 30th, 2023.

Representatives from the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare will be visiting these camps on the 9th and 10th of the month to support and guide pensioners.

All pensioners and family pensioners are encouraged to visit these centers to submit their life certificates through digital mediums. They are also advised to download the Face Authentication app on their Android mobile phones for convenient Life Certificate submission, both now and in the future.
