Pune: Dimbhe Dam storage 96%, 4,650 cusecs water being released in Ghod river, residents downstream alerted

Pune: The hilly areas in Ambegaon talukas received good rains in the past two days. It is still raining in some areas. This has resulted in an increase in the water storage of Dimbhe Dam (Hutatma Babu Genu Reservoir). It is 96 percent of the capacity.

State Cooperation Minister Dilip Walse-Patil appealed to villagers downstream to remain alert as 4,650 cusecs water was released into the Ghod river at 8.30 pm on Friday to control flooding.

He said, “The water discharge will be changed as per requirement. The Ghod river will be in a spate. People should avoid swimming in the river. Women should not visit the river for washing clothes. Agriculture pumps should be shifted to safe places. Villagers should take care.”
